Dynamic Vinyasa
This is a type of Vinyasa Yoga in which there are rapid and exuberant body movements that follow closely one after another. These Vinyasa Yoga Classes are aimed at strengthening your body muscles while at the same time teaching your body various balance techniques. It is a dynamic breath-focused practice which increases strength and flexibility of the body as well as the mind.

Gentle Vinyasa
As the name suggests, this is a slower practice of Vinyasa Yoga which works at a deeper level than just bodily movements. It focuses more on calm and slow movements that are aimed at stress relief rather than muscle strength or balance. Even though they have different aims, both Dynamic Vinyasa as well as Gentle Vinyasa will allow you to further develop your flexibility.

Kundalini Yoga in the lineage of Yogi Bhajan
Kundalini Yoga differes slightly from the above mentioned yoga practices. Its primary focus is on developing one’s spiritual discipline, character and consciousness. It has very little to do with the physical aspects and movements of yoga and is therefore taught in combination with the above mentioned practices so that you can get the complete experience of body as well as mind and soul.

With our Vinyasa Yoga Classes the Yoga of experience and healing will improve your immune system and at the same time will relax and strengthen your mind and body. Every class includes Mantras (chanting) and Mudras (hand gestures) and leads into a meditation.

Frequently-asked Questions before attending S&Y Drop-in Classes:

What should I wear when I come for a yoga class?

Ans.- We recommend you to wear any comfortable, elastic clothes.

When should I come?

Ans.- If you attend a drop-in class for the first time, please be at the shala 15 minutes before the class starts. Be a good yogi/ni and be on time.

Do I need to bring my own yoga mat?

Ans.- We provide yoga mats at the S&Y Shala. If you come more often, it can be nice to have your own yoga mat. There are inexpensive mats to buy in the supermarkets close by.

Can I eat before taking a yoga class?

Ans.- We advise you not to eat anything heavy two hours before the class. A light meal won’t cause problems, as long as it’s not just before the class.

Do I need to bring anything else for the yoga class?

Ans.- If you tend to sweat in the warm climate of Goa, please bring a small towel and a bottle of drinking water. If you attend classes regularly, we recommend to bring your own yoga mat. Other than that, come with an open mind and joy for transformation.

Can I take a yoga class when I have physical problems?

Ans.- Please check with your health practitioner first and kindly inform our yoga teacher before the class.

I am pregnant – can I attend the classes?

Ans.- Please check with your health practitioner first and kindly inform our yoga teacher before the class. Generally yoga is great during pregnancy, because it prevents back pain and relaxes the nervous system. Since you need to be aware of some modifications and contra-indications of postures, we recommend to book one private class first to be well prepared for the drop-in classes.

I am overweight – can I still attend yoga classes?

Ans.- Yoga can help you a lot in weight management. As long as you can breathe yoga is for everyone.

I am not flexible and don’t have any strength – is yoga really for me?

Ans.- Yoga brings benefits to everyone, regardless of their fitness level. S&Y Drop-in Classes are open for all levels, and your strength and flexibility will increase naturally through your yoga practice.
